Little Saplings Montessori

Little Saplings Montessori first opened as a small in home program in 2018. We have recently expanded our program and cater to children 2 1/2 - 6 years of age.

What is Montessori?

Montessori is an educational method for children that focuses on RESPECT of the child, respect of the environment, respect of peers and teachers. In Montessori, a child's play is called "work". This adds to the respect that we give the child by acknowledging the important tasks that they are undertaking.

​

Montessori is about creating a PREPARED ENVIRONMENT that is orderly, beautiful and centered on the child.

 

Montessori is PRACTICAL. Emphasis is placed on practical activities that allow the child to develop independence at an age appropriate level. Tasks such as pouring, sweeping, polishing, folding are all commonplace. 

 

Montessori is about PEACE. Not just fostering peace in the classroom but creating a generation of children who spread peace throughout the world.

 

Montessori is about FREEDOM within limits. A child is given as much freedom as they can handle in a particular situation or environment. This would include freedom of movement, freedom to choose their own activities, freedom to repeat work and freedom over other aspects of the child's life as situations arise.

Little Saplings Montessori teaches a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. In our classrooms, children make creative choices in their learning, while the classroom environment and the teachers offer age-appropriate activities to guide the learning process.

We are committed to the complete development of the child's character emotionally, intellectually, physically, socially and morally. Our responsibility is to nurture, guide, educate, and prepare the child to become a happy, independent, contributing member of a global community.
